What is Safe Shield Co.?
Safe Shield Co. is a mom-owned small business that designs and manufactures ballistic-proof school binders, providing an extra layer of protection for students and peace of mind for families. Our mission is to combine everyday function in a tool with lifesaving safety features.
What materials are used to make the binder ballistic-proof?
Our binders are reinforced with ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), a lightweight, durable material also used in body armor. It provides effective ballistic resistance without adding excessive weight.
What level of ballistic protection does the binder provide?
Safe Shield binders are tested to meet NIJ Level IIIA standards. They are capable of stopping common handgun rounds including .357 SIG, .44 Magnum, and 9mm FMJ. They are not rated for rifle rounds such as those from an AR-15 or AK-47.
Is the binder ballistic-proof on both sides?
No. Our binders offer protection on the front cover.
How heavy is the ballistic-proof binder?
The binder weighs approximately 2.5 to 3 pounds—light enough for daily school use while still offering reliable protection.
Can the binder be used like a regular school binder?
Absolutely. Each Safe Shield product includes standard functionality like pockets in our Folder, 3 ring binder system in the Binder and Zipper binder and the Zipper Binder also has interior pockets, and a durable zipper—just like a high-quality school binder, but with added protection.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit/debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. More payment options are updated periodically - so keep checking back to see if your favorite way to pay has been added!
Do you ship internationally?
At this time, we ship within the United States only. We're working on expanding international options soon—stay tuned!
How can I track my order?
After your order ships, you’ll receive a confirmation email with a tracking link. You can also log into your account to check the status at any time.
What is your return policy?
We accept returns of unused products within 14 days of delivery. Products must be in original packaging. Due to safety regulations, we cannot accept used returns. See our Returns & Warranty page for details.
What if my binder arrives damaged or defective?
If your item arrives damaged or defective, please contact us at orders@safeshieldco.com within 7 days of delivery with photos. We will gladly send a replacement or issue a refund.
